Jack Hodges is a multimedia artist based on Gumbaynggirr Country in Nambucca Heads, NSW, working across painting, sculpture, video, installation and public engagement. He is interested in everyday aesthetics, local culture, and the deeper truths revealed through irony and imperfection.

Hodges challenges everyday assumptions to offer some understanding of individual and collective actions around themes of coercion, convention, coexistence and status, particularly in relation to decision-making.

Hodges completed a Master of Community Development in 2020, informing his use of problem-posing methods to generate dialogue and reinterpret public interactions into artworks.

Jack has delivered community art projects and exhibited overseas in Indonesia and Nepal, as well as domestically in the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales.

In 2013 he undertook a mentorship with the Mexican muralist Jesus “Dhear” Benitez in Mexico City . In 2015 he undertook a mentorship in Pittsburgh, USA with multidisciplinary artist Bill Shannon.

Jack has been exhibiting his art since 2011, including his solo show’s ‘People’s Choice’ at Firstdraft in Woolloomooloo, NSW in 2025, ‘Real Life Fiction’ at Airspace Projects in Marrickville, NSW in 2024, ‘LEISURE’ at Archive Gallery in Toormina, NSW in 2023, ‘Not Sure Yet?’ at Third Eye Space in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018 and ‘Inside Outside’ a renegade exhibition at the Adelaide Bus Station in 2017.

Jack was a finalist in STILL 2023, the national still life award at YAM in Coffs Harbour, NSW and recently received Special Commendation in the Churchie National Emerging Art Prize 2025.
